LEGAL AND FINANCIAL STRUCTURE

Founded in 1850, Joseph and Marcel Lehmann set up the initial SARL (limited liability company).

Yves Lehmann, representing the fifth generation, took over in 1982 from Marcel Lehmann and transformed the SARL into a EURL (limited liability sole trader) with capital of 38,112 Euros.

THE DISTILLERY

Due to the expansion our company was undergoing, production was transferred in 1993 from the family home in Bischoffsheim to Obernai, and more modern techniques of storage, bottling and labelling were introduced. This set-up allowed us to increase production capacity while retaining the quality and authentic craftsmanship of our products.

Our expertise

We produce and distribute "eau-de-vie" (fruit brandy), liqueurs and Alsace Whisky.

 

Fruit is locally harvested by farmers or individuals and brought to the distillery on a daily basis, and its quality is controlled upon receipt. It is then fermented or macerated for 3 to 4 weeks before being traditionally distilled in two successive heatings in our copper stills.

 

Only the heart of the still is kept, and aged for a minimum of three years: in vats, in stoneware jars, in demijohns or wooden barrels depending on the type of product desired. Our products are made naturally, without any added sugar, flavours or extracts.

 

Our distillery has 5 stills for distillation, and there are 16 vats of between 20 and 160 hl in the fermenting cellar. The cellar in which spirits are aged contains 17 stainless steel vats of between 20 and 40 hl, stoneware jars, wooden barrels, and numerous glass demijohns of 10 to 60 litres.
